Prospective postdoctoral fellows interested in choosing Penn State as the host institution for 51 Pegasi b, NASA Hubble and/or NSF Astronomy & Astrophysics Postdoctoral Fellowships are encouraged to apply and to contact their potential faculty mentor(s) in advance of submitting their application.

The Eberly College of Science solicits nominations for the Eberly Research Fellows each year.  In general, prospective nominees are encouraged to contact a potential faculty sponsor to learn more. However, currently, we do not expect a new Eberly Fellow to be hired in Astronomy & Astrophysics to start in Fall 2023.

As part of the President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, Penn State seeks applicants whose research, teaching, and service will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education. The program is particularly interested in scholars with the potential to bring to their research and teaching the critical perspective that comes from a non-traditional educational background or an understanding of the experiences of groups historically underrepresented in higher education.  Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact a potential faculty mentor in advance of submitting an application.

Prospective postdoctoral researchers are encouraged watch the AAS job register for additional targeted openings.

Current Penn State students are encouraged to review the list of research areas to help them identify research groups most appropriate for their interests and preparation and email prospective advisors to discuss research opportunities.
