CEHW part of new NASA Interdisciplinary Consortia for Astrobiological Research team

NASA has recently selected seven new teams to fund as part of the cross-divisional Interdisciplinary Consortia for Astrobiological Research (ICAR) program. Each ICAR seeks to address a focused question or topic, deemed to have a high significance for astrobiology, with an interdisciplinary approach. Penn State is a key partner in one of these selected efforts, Strange New Worlds, lead by Kevin Stevenson of Johns Hopkins University. Efforts at Penn State will build on the capabilities of HPF and NEID to seek out terrestrial new worlds around the nearest M dwarfs that can be studied and characterized with the upcoming 30m class telescopes and future space missions. We will also seek to understand the atmospheres and potential biosignatures of these strange worlds, and their complex interactions with their M dwarf host stars.
