CEHW Professor Suvrath Mahadevan named Verne M. Willaman Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics

CEHW Professor Suvrath Mahadevan has been named the Verne M. Willaman Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics in recognition of exceptional scholarship, teaching/mentorship, and service. Suvrath is PI of HPF and NEID, two ground-based spectrographs used for radial velocity measurements of stars to detect exoplanets. After more than a decade of development and implementation, these instruments are now returning a wealth of results that fuel a large collaboration led by Suvrath. In addition, he is a beloved instructor and recognized mentor, successfully placing group members in top positions. He also takes on impactful service roles in the profession while making significant contributions to service at the department and college levels. Congrats Suvrath!
