Sam Halverson & Arpita Roy awarded Downsborough Graduate Fellowship in Astrophysics

Sam Halverson and Arpita Roy have been awarded the department of Astronomy & Astrophysic’s Downsborough Graduate Fellowship in Astrophysics for 2015, which recognizes the achievements of senior graduate students. Sam and Arpita have both been working with Suvrath Mahadevan on the Habitable Zone Planet Finder (HPF) spectrograph currently being built here at Penn State. They are extensively involved with its calibration, fiber feed, and data pipeline and have been part of important innovation that will inform future planet-hunting instruments. They also work on other related projects such as high precision instrumentation and analysis for the radial velocity detection of exoplanets.
