Welcome to Ian Czekala

CEHW welcomes its newest faculty member, Dr. Ian Czekala.  Ian’s current research focuses on sub-mm interferometry of protoplanetary disks with ALMA.  He’s combining radiative transfer solvers with auto-differentiation to enable Hamiltonian Markov chain Monte Carlo. Ian also brings experience in hierarchical Bayesian modeling of populations, such as disks and planetary systems around binary stars.  Czekala joined Penn State from as part of a cross-college faculty search sponsored by the Institute for Computational & Data Sciences.
